FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about our services, how we work and what SEO and AI search optimization can realistically achieve.

General

What does Northpeak do?

We provide SEO and AI search optimization services: technical SEO, SEO audits, keyword research and content strategy, on-page optimization, website migration support and performance reporting. We work with US small and mid-sized businesses, B2B companies and SaaS teams.

What is GEO?

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of making your business easier for AI-powered search experiences, such as Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT search and Perplexity, to find, understand and cite. It relies on the same foundations as SEO: crawlable pages, clear and verifiable content, and a consistent, credible presence across the web.

Do you guarantee rankings or AI citations?

No. Google's own guidance on hiring an SEO says “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google,” and AI-generated answers are likewise controlled by the providers that produce them. We commit to a clear scope, evidence-based recommendations, transparent reporting and an honest assessment of what is and isn't working.

How long does SEO take to show results?

It depends on your starting point, competition and how quickly changes ship, so we don't quote a generic timeline. Changes can only take effect after Google recrawls the affected pages, and Google says “Crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.” At the start of an engagement we set dated targets for your site, with leading indicators such as indexing and impressions, so you can see whether the work is on track.

Who do you work with?

US-based small and mid-sized businesses, B2B companies and SaaS businesses that want more qualified organic traffic and leads, especially teams with technical SEO problems, an upcoming migration or questions about AI search.

Services and scope

What's the difference between an automated SEO scan and your audit?

An automated scan checks pages against a fixed list of rules and reports every match. Our audit uses that data as input, then adds manual review of templates, search results, analytics and business context, and prioritizes findings by impact and effort.

Do you write content?

Our core work is research, strategy, content briefs and optimization. Content production can be scoped separately, or your writers and subject-matter experts can work from our briefs while we review drafts.

Do you do link building?

We don't buy links. Google's spam policies list “Buying or selling links for ranking purposes” as an example of link spam. We can identify opportunities for earned mentions, such as original research, partner pages and expert commentary, as part of a content strategy.

Do you implement technical changes?

We write developer-ready specifications, review changes on staging and validate fixes after release. Hands-on implementation in your CMS or codebase can be scoped as a separate engagement, depending on your platform and access.

Working together

What happens after I submit a request?

We review your website and the problem you described, then reply by email within two business days with initial observations or questions. If it looks like a good fit, we schedule a call to discuss scope. You receive a written proposal before any paid work begins.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing depends on scope: site size, the services involved, data access and whether implementation support is included. After an initial conversation, you receive a written proposal with the scope, deliverables, timeline and price.

What access will you need?

At minimum, read access to Google Search Console and Google Analytics. Depending on the engagement, access to your CMS, a staging environment, server logs or your issue tracker may help. We request only the access the work requires.

Can you work with our developers or another agency?

Yes. Much of our work is collaborative: writing tickets for your engineers, reviewing pull requests or staging builds, and coordinating with content, design or paid-media partners.

Have a question that isn't answered here?

Tell us about your website and what you want organic search to achieve. We'll come back with an honest view of where the opportunities and risks are.

What happens next

  1. We review your site and request

A person on our team looks at your website and the problem you described. You won't receive an automated report.

  2. We reply within two business days

By email, with initial observations, any questions we have, and whether we think we're a good fit.

  3. Scoping call and written proposal

If it makes sense to continue, we schedule a call and send a written scope, timeline and price. Nothing is billed before you approve it.
